“artigjan” is the Maltese word for Craftsman

This is a celebration of fine Maltese Craftsmanship & Artistry.

An ode to the nearly forgotten craft of Silversmithing.

A revival of a long family heritage & a tribute to generations of experience.

All our items are handmade locally by Master craftsman, Victor Azzopardi, using traditional techniques & Hallmarked with his own mark “AVL”.

Victor Azzopardi comes from a family who made its living from this craft for the last 150 years at least.  He developed a passion for working with precious metals early in his teenage years and qualified years later, after serving a long apprenticeship with an established master craftsman.  He spent hours of practical training on the work bench and the urge to learn more about the craft of silversmithing, led to frequent travel overseas, to Italy and England.

Across the centuries, our predecessors have striven hard to keep the tradition of silversmithing alive. The Maltese Silver Heritage which is renowned across the globe, stems from the revered influence of the Knights of the Order of St. John who had settled in Malta and enriched the culture of the Maltese people.  This, together with the evolution of the Maltese identity and their long-standing traditions, was a key source of inspiration which led to the creation of “The Maltese Silver Collection®”, a compilation of reproduction pieces of the highest standard, a preservation of a National Heritage and a fusion of past and present.
